Support
- Selecting and setting up an imaging protocol
Following consultation with the Director, the process of launching a new MRI study begins with scheduling a time with the MRI Technologist to set up the desired imaging protocol. If desired, the Director is available to consult with investigators on the selection of imaging parameters during this visit (if coordinated in advance). Study personnel may test the stimulus presentation and response recording that will be performed during the study free of charge whenever unscheduled time is available on the scanner. Up to three one-hour sessions per study protocol can be scheduled to pilot new research projects free of charge, provided that the data generated be used for piloting purposes only and are not included in research to be submitted for publication. The use of pilot scans to support grant submissions is encouraged. Depending on research needs, funding goals, and current scanner availability, additional pilot time can be considered on a case-by-case basis. - Integrating equipment to be used during MRI
Contact the Director to discuss any unique equipment needs you might have. Some equipment we have successfully integrated with MRI include eye tracking, auditory startle (sound amplification), electrical stimulation (shock), recording of electrodermal activity (EDA), and thermal stimulation. - New to imaging?
The Director is available to consult on research projects for scientists who are new to MRI research or looking to take their research in a new direction. For investigators holding or seeking pilot funds who are interested in pursuing a preliminary study but otherwise lack the needed personnel support, the support of a graduate research assistant (GAR) with MRI training may be available at a cost and can be discussed with the Director.
